Hair Graft Calculator

Estimate how many grafts you need for a hair transplant, based on your hair loss stage and hair type.

How many grafts do I need?

A graft (follicular unit) holds 1–4 hairs, about 2.2 on average. The estimate starts from typical graft ranges for each Norwood stage, then adjusts for hair thickness, the density you want and the quality of your donor area. Fine hair needs more grafts for the same coverage, and thick or curly hair needs fewer. A healthy donor area can usually give 5,000–6,000 grafts over a lifetime.
